Vizicsacsi awarded Esports Player of the year by the Hungarian Sports Journalists' Association

On the 2019 Sportsman/Sportswoman of the year, Vizicsacsi received the Esports Player of the year award.

Tamás "Vizicsacsi" Kiss retired from professional League of Legends as the best Hungarian player ever. As of right now Hungary does not have a player in the LEC so the retirement of Csacsi will leave a void for the Hungarian fans. 2020 is the 62nd year the Hungarian Sports Journalists' Association hosts the Sportsman/Sportswoman of the year event and this year, for the first time, esports received an award too.

"Recently we received a lot of suggestion to include two more awards in our repertoire as they move hundreds of thousands of people. The first one is the recreational sports and the second one is esports. Many are concerned about esports and they see it as a strange phenomenon, but many players are doing it in Hungary and all around the world too. It has real comeptition, real stars and real talents. This years award goes to a player who reached the highest level of professional esports, thanks to his talent and persistance. From now on, we will award the best esports player of Hungary, every year." - said György Szőllősi, the president of the Hungarian Sports Journalists' Association.

This year the jury awarded Tamás "Vizicsacsi" Kiss with the Player of the Year title, who got the crownpiece of his career reaching the League of Legends Worlds and finishing in the Top 8 with his team, Splyce. He is an outstanding player of the EU LCS/LEC and will be remembered for his unorthodox picks like toplane Poppy and Cho'gath. He was the MVP of the 2017 Spring split and reached 2nd place three times in the LCS during his career.

"It is a pleasure for us, that the Hungarian sport journalism recognizes and awards esports too. Esports are much alike traditional sports and the goal of the Hungarian Esports Federation is to have esports recognized as a regular sport. We are very proud of Tamás "Vizicsacsi" Kiss and we think that his career can be an example for every upcoming esports player in Hungary. We thank the Hungarian Sports Journalists' Association for including esports on this event." - said Balázs Biró, the president of the Hungarian Esports Federation.

"I am deeply honored to receive this award. It is a milestone for my career and for the Hungarian esports as well. I hope this will be an important step in recognizing esports in the eye of the society." - said Tamás "Vizicsacsi" Kiss after receiving the award.
